Good Friday

Photo from Google Images
Well it was a rough Friday, actually a rough week for me. so I thought I would post about Abraham. He was good. What an amazing journey God took him on. He was so faithful and followed God's instructions even without clear answers. Think about this... God instructed Abraham to leave his family with his wife and nephew and all his wealth and set out for a foreign land. The bible says Abraham did as God told him. He left, without a map to guide him or GPS to show him the way. He trusted that God would lead him as he said he would. He also trusted that God would bring him a son when he and Sarah were at a RIPE OLD age and God did. Abraham called him Issac as the Lord instructed. Next comes the unfathomable. God told Abraham to offer Issac as a burnt offering and Abraham faithfully obeyed the Lord. He didn't waiver. He didn't come up with his own plan, or alternative plan... he just did exactly what God called him to do. He fully trusted in God.. As I was reading this today, I was so impressed by his unwavering faith. I was even more in awe at what Abraham said to his servants when he was ready to go up to the hill and slay his one and only son... he told the servants to stay behind while he and his son went up the hill to worship.. then he says to them... We will worship and WE will come back to you. It amazes me that he trusted his Father so much that he knew God had a plan and that together he and his son would come back to the servants. That is BOLD faith if you ask me. How often, I start out faithful to God and then customize God's instructions to fit my plans... I'm asking God for bold faith this good Friday and my prayer is that I will step out and follow where He leads.

Matthew 17:20 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

My Boy Walks!

Hoot Graduates! What a year.
I just love those little legs

I couldn't be prouder of my boy!

Hoot's letter was U in the word GRADUATION. U stood for: Unto thee O God do we give thanks Psalm 75:1. He had to memorize a verse a week for the entire school year from A-Z. It was a great habit/practice to start and I think we will continue it through the summer. What a blessing for us as parents to hear our child quote scripture so proudly on stage before an audience of parents/ grandparents and supporters. Very encouraging.

When I woke up this morning I was greeted by Hoot singing Happy Birthday. About half way through he said, "mom, I'm graduating today, Happy Birthday". I thought to myself... I want to hear those same words 12 years from now and so on. Where in the heck did 5 years go? It seems like only yesterday he was 5 months old and I was rocking him to sleep. Now he's 5 years almost 6 and walking the isle for kinder graduation. Now... he is not going on to first grade. Hoot is going to Super Kinder at a new school. It's really plain ole kindergarten, but we call it Super Kinder in our house and that makes him happy! He's a late August baby and soooo not ready for 1st grade. They would eat him alive! I think he'll thank us for it when he's in junior high and not the smallest kiddo in his class. And.. the other benefit is that we'll get to keep him home for an extra year before we ship him off to college. (I can't even begin to think about that).
Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Sweet Baby Girl Shower

I made these white chocolate baby bear lollipops and placed them in a footed bowl filled with Whoppers!! YUM YUM YUM
We enjoyed gliding in the breeze on this Indiana treasure, adorned with a new shabby cushion and a fresh coat of Heirloom White paint.

I got the idea for pink pom pom flowers from Southern Butter and Martha Stewart. They were so easy to make and Lambert even helped!

these plates were my dear great grandma Edna's. They were perfect for this shower. I don't get to use them often so I was thrilled to pull them from the cabinet, hand wash in soapy water, and proudly serve some delicious hors d'oeurves on them.

This picture didn't turn out great. These were silver baby cups and rattles hanging from my dining room chandelier by pink satin ribbons. It was so much fun to host a baby shower for a sweet sweet mama for a precious baby girl that's on her way! We had pink fluff everywhere. I can't believe I didn't get a photo of the cake. It was a pink baby bishops dress that was too die for! The pictures don't do the shower justice. it was such a beautiful day to celebrate new life. The shower was a surprise for the mommy. She was supposed to arrive at 9:30 and at 10:00 she still wasn't there. We told her it was a little ladies retreat reunion get together. Her sister in law called her to ask if she was coming. She said, we just woke up and the boys are tired. I don't think were going to make it.... YIKES I had a house full of her friends and family and a lot of good food and beautiful gifts!! So, we called her back and begged her to come. She arrived around 11:00 and was totally shocked. This is her third baby so she was not expecting a shower. It was so much fun showering her with girly outfits and pink EVERYTHING!!
Psalm 100 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his [a] ;we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Good Friday, Sat Sun Mom's Day WOWEEE!!

Yes that's my wide load on the new cruiser! Maybe it will help work it off!

Best JOB in the WORLD. I am totally blessed to be a mom of this great little boy! I love love love being a mommy. I count my blessings every day. I have a healthy happy child that brings me true joy. I thank God for this gift and ask that he equip me to raise this little boy to be a man of God. Oh God, I pray that you will call my child to you and that you will equip me to teach him your ways every day of his life. I know that he is yours and only given to us to watch over for your glory. Deuteronomy 11:18-21 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 20 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, 21 so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the LORD swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth
What a weekend!!! I shared that Lambert was taking us on a surprise getaway vacation. Well, it was one that surely did not disappoint! I was in suspense until we pulled out of our neighborhood. I was totally prepared for Hyatt Hill Country and not really looking forward to a 4-5 hour drive at 5:00PM. So when Lambert told me we were heading to Galveston, I was excited. We haven't been for a weekend stay this year, and it's sooo our place. What he didn't tell me is that we were staying in the AWESOME San Louis Hotel on the Seawall. We usually stay at Moody Gardens which is very nice, but no San Louis! Friday night was wonderful, our room was amazing, the view was amazing, the food was amazing.... and so on. Saturday we spent most of the day at the pool, but we wanted to head over to the strand to shop at some of our favorite haunts that have finally re-opened. We passed this tiny little bicycle shop on Broadway. It had a vintage looking used pink bike outside.... similar the one I've been wanting. I asked Lambert if we could swing by there after our visit to the Strand and take a look at the bike. So we did. The bicycle was really really cute. We decided to go in and ask the about it. When I opened the door I immediately noticed they had the vintage (looking) cruiser I've really been wanting, but I didn't want to make a big fuss. I was completely okay with purchasing a used bicycle if it was reasonably priced. (you know I live for a bargain treasure) I asked the owner about the bike outside and then Lambert said, lets look at the new bike you've been wanting. The owner said well this bike is already sold, see here it has a sold tag... to SHELLY!!! I was a little confused and was wondering if there could be another Shelly.... Lambert had it all set up!!! They put the other pink bike out front as a DECOY and I fell for it hook line and sinker!!! I could not believe my Lambert pulled this off for me. I think he's a keeper for sure! I sooo don't deserve him. We had a wonderful Saturday evening dinner at The Salt Water Grill... a must if you're ever in Galveston. It's off the Strand and not a chain restaurant. the food is to die for and they have wonderful seasonal specials. Sunday morning Lambert told me the surprises weren't over yet...I thought we were headed to I-Hop for breakfast when he escorted me to the San Louis Spa... It was a morning of relaxation and pampering. He and Hoot had breakfast and then made their way to the pool while, I was scrubbed, rubbed, smoothed and polished at the spa. I spent the rest of the day with two great guys and could not have been more blessed! So.... it was indeed a good Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I sure hope all of you moms had a wonderful day too.

Want to Get Away??

That's right... the overnight bag is packed! Lambert has a surprise weekend get away planned for us. Hoot and I are almost done packing and we have NO idea where were going. Lambert has never done this sort of thing before, but he's actually pulled it off without me finding out. I have begged, snooped, peeked, and have not the foggiest clue as to where were headed today. I didn't realize how hard it would be to pack! He just said pack casual and bring a swim suit.... okay... casual Hyatt Hill Country or casual Jellystone camp resort.... do you see how this could be tricky? He originally planned to take us and his mom to Hyatt Hill Country, but our plans changed. So he came up with plan B. I really think were still headed to HHC, but Lambert is pretty sneaky. I sure love him for it! Happy Mothers Day to all you wonderful mommies!
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Proverbs 31:25-30

In the DARK

We've lost our two front teeth!!!!

Sometimes I feel like I live in a cave. I never know what's going on in the world because I rarely watch TV. Today I heard a song on Christian radio called, Live Like We're Dying... apparently this guy, Kris Allen beat out Adam Lambert on America's Got Talent show. Well Kris is a Christian Artist. Wow, Simon (i do know who he is) picked a Christian. So, I'm listening to these lyrics and just about balling in my car. Amazing artist, but amazing lyrics too. I thought I would share these wise words I should be living by. I wish I could figure out how to add a playlist, but I really just love the words.

Sometimes we fall down, can't get back up We're hiding behind skin that's too tough How come we don't say I love you enough Till it's to late, it's not too late Our hearts are hungry for a food that won't come And we could make a feast from these crumbs And we're all staring down the barrel of a gun So if your life flashed before you,What would you wish you would've done Yeah, we gotta start Looking at the hands of the time we've been given If this is all we got and we gotta start thinking If every second counts on a clock that's ticking Gotta live like we're dying We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to Turn it all around or to throw it all away We gotta tell them that we love them While we got the chance to say Gotta live like we're dying And if your plane fell out of the skies Who would you call with your last goodbye Should be so careful who we live out our lives So when we long for absolution,There'll be no one on the line, yeah Yeah, we gotta start Looking at the hands of the time we've been given If this is all we got and we gotta start thinking If every second counts on a clock that's ticking Gotta live like we're dying We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to Turn it all around or to throw it all away We gotta tell them that we love them While we got the chance to say Gotta live like we're dying You never know a good thing till it's goneYou never see a crash till it's head on Why do we think we're right when we're dead wrong You never know a good thing till it's gone
Mark 12:33
33To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."

Furniture Love

So Friday I was surfing CL looking for the Pottery Barn Priscilla Day Bed below... Instead I found this sweet armoire for a song! I didn't want to post it, because I was negotiating with the seller. I was truly afraid that I might jinx myself if I showcased it on my blog without actually having officially owned it... So I got the call today that it was indeed mine!! I am in Pine Armoire LOVE!!!! It's 64in wide which is perfect for my family room. We have a black entertainment center that I purchased from the Dallas market several years ago, when I was in love with black painted EVERYTHING. I have always been a lover of antique pine. In fact last year at Urban Market I almost purchased a beautiful antique pine secretary, but decided to wait... you know what they say about antiques... buy it when you see it, because it will surely be gone when you go back for it. That was the case at UM. I went back the next quarter, so hopeful that the dealer would still have it. She remembered me and how I dearly wanted it, but sadly it was gone.... so... I am the proud owner of this little gem... Lambert is going to pick it up for me tomorrow.

Anyone know where I might find one of these??? It's a 2007 model PB bed. I recently saw it in a Country Living magazine. I think it would be perfect in Libbie's room. (still praying for a girl!) but it could easily go in a little boys room too. I love trundle beds for kids rooms. They are great for sleepovers and for Nana visits. I so wish PB would put this back on the market, but I called... not in the near future. So for now... I'm still on the hunt.
